Bottleneck Slide for a Gibson Les Paul Studio?

I have a Gibson Les Paul Studio and I need to get a bottleneck slide. My old guitar teacher said I could use a bottleneck slide on my Les Paul. I'm not doing anything too fancy with the bottleneck slide, just some solos to a few Bon Jovi songs ("Something for the Pain" and "Superman Tonight") Which bottleneck slide should I get? and what material should it be made out of? gl, steel, br?
